Verdict:
CDR Yamaha’s Dean Ferris mentioned that this may have been his best Motul MX Nationals performance to date, and you would have to agree with that statement when you look at the statistics from the day. Ferris again swept the day from qualifying through to the motos like he did at Wonthaggi’s season-opening round, truly impressive riding from the defending champion. KTM Motocross Racing Team’s Kirk Gibbs was unable to stop Ferris’ charge and he’s clearly frustrated with his season to date, but as always, he’s remaining consistent and again right there behind the number one. Crankt Protein Honda Racing’s Todd Waters logged his second podium of the season and looks to be improving aboard the all-new Honda CRF450R for 2017, he’ll be a rider to keep tabs on over the following rounds. Another notable mention goes to Nathan Crawford who claimed his first top three moto finish and fourth overall at Conondale, a career-best for the MEGA Bulk Fuels Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team MX1 rookie.

Verdict:
Serco Yamaha’s Mitch Evans backed up his impressive Appin 1-1 sweep with yet another perfect moto score combination in Condondale confirming he means business in his rookie season. Evans came from way back in moto one to claim the win and made an aggressive final lap move on teammate and cousin Jackson Richardson for the moto two win – the kid was on fire. Richardson showed improved speed and is definitely going in the right direction three rounds in as he landed himself on the podium for the first time this season. It was a tough round of sorts for DPH Motorsport Yamaha’s Wilson Todd in third position as he was forced to hand over the red-plate to Evans and go back to the drawing board for Horsham’s fourth round. Following a fourth in moto one, Team WBR Bulk Nutrients Yamaha’s Aaron Tanti also showed stand out form in Conondale as he stretched out a lead in moto two before suffering a flat rear tyre and dropped down the order.
