Tomac takes sixth win of supercross season in Indianapolis
Osborne extends East Coast 250SX advantage with another victory.
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac has stormed to his third-consecutive Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, victory in Indianapolis.
It was a sixth win of 2017 for Tomac as he moves to within 12 points of defending champion Ryan Dungey (Red Bull KTM), who was third this weekend.
Tomac took the lead on lap two and that’s where he stayed, while Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin made his way past teammate Dungey in the closing laps for second. Australia’s Chad Reed (Monster Energy/Yamalube/Chaparral/Yamaha Financial Services/Yamaha) finished P7.
In the East Coast 250SX final, championship leader and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Zach Osborne raced to his third win in four races to add to his points lead.
Osborne made his way by Joey Savatgy (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki) on lap nine and that’s how they finished, while Jordon Smith (Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM) completed the podium.
The win allowed Osborne to pull out to a nine-point lead over Savatgy, while Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo sits third, 18 points out of the lead following a fifth-place finish.
The 2017 Monster Energy Supercross season continues next Saturday, 25 March, for the 12th round of the championship inside Detroit’s Ford Field.
