Sherco Australia press release:
DSR Motul Pirelli Sherco racer Andy Wilksch has impressed during his last-minute inclusion in the hugely popular Clipsal 500 Super Enduro-X in Adelaide last weekend. Riding the Sherco 450 SEF-R for just the second time, Wilksch took to the technical man-made track with nothing to lose and proved the new 450 SEF-R was more than capable of mixing it with the competition and some of the very best enduro-x riders in the world.
Held in conjunction with the Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar Championship round, the Super Enduro-X was staged in front of a huge crowd which gave Wilksch the perfect stage to showcase the capabilities of the Sherco 450 SEF-R.
“The Clipsal was an awesome event,” said Wilksch. “Practice day, press day and three days of racing on that track was definitely hard work but I’m so happy with the progress I’ve made on the Sherco. There was some tough competition and to finish the event with a 6th in the final moto was amazing.”
With limited time to prepare due to a last-minute entry, Wilksch was essentially racing a standard 450 SEF-R yet he was able to comfortably put the Sherco into the thick of the action.
“Being able to compete against the world’s best on a dead stock bike is pretty special,” Wilksch said after the event. “It was made even easier by the support I got from the guys at Mick’s Motorcycle’s Gawler. They jumped in to help me out on short notice which was awesome. Luckily the Sherco is such an amazing bike that is super easy to adapt to any kind of racing situation so all I had to do was ride and have fun.”
Wilksch will now complete testing preparation for the upcoming Australian Off-Road Championship with the DSR Motul Pirelli Sherco Team where he’ll join Nic Tomlinson and Derek Grundy in a three-rider Sherco attack against the best riders in the country.
