Monster Energy Kawasaki has officially confirmed Josh Grant will race alongside Eli Tomac in the 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

Grant raced for the factory outfit as a fill-in rider for several rounds of supercross and motocross in 2016 before injuries saw his season come to a premature end. Despite being spotted testing the Kawasaki KX450F in recent months, the manufacturer was yet to confirm his position until today.

Team manager Dan Fahie is pleased with the team’s progress throughout the off-season, revealing the squad is prepared for the demands of a racing season.

“Our entire Monster Energy Kawasaki team is ready for the demands of the upcoming season,” Fahie shared. “Preparation has been going great for both our riders heading into the 2017 season and we could not be happier with the progress the entire team has made during the off-season.”

Tomac, who is coming off a victory at the 2016 Monster Energy Cup in October, will return to the team for another season, marking the second year of his multi-year contract. As for the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team, they’ll field Joey Savatgy, Adam Cianciarulo, Austin Forkner and Justin Hill in the 250SX and 250MX categories.

The opening round of the 2017 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship is slated to commence on 7 January in Anaheim, USA.
