Active8 Yamalube Yamaha teamsters Josh Green and Tayla Jones stamped their authority at the Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE) after securing class wins in dominant fashion after the final day of competition wrapped up on Saturday Afternoon.

Josh Green returned to career best form after six months on the sidelines as he recovered from a knee reconstruction earlier this year. Green returned to riding just three weeks prior to the event and elected to race the YZ250FX in the E1 class and he instantly set the pace from the opening day.

Green led the E1 class at every stage during the event and pounded home that advantage with another impressive win in the final moto to take his lead out to over two minutes and retain his mantle as the best E1 racer in Australia going with back to back class wins at the prestigious event.

The result was made all the more impressive as he raced to fourth outright, just behind off road heavy weights of Mathias Bellino, Chris Hollis and Daniel Milner, all mounted on E2 (450cc) machinery.

“It’s awesome to be back racing,” Green enthuses. “2016 hasn’t been my best year and sitting on the sidelines watching everyone race has been so frustrating that it was driving me crazy.

“I had just over three weeks of riding before the event started so it was a pretty intense build up but I did the right rehab, the Active8 Yamaha team were fully prepared and we go the job done. I’m stoked!

“Thank you to AJ and the team for another great event. It doesn’t feel like work when I’m with these guys and it’s an awesome environment for racing,” Green ends.

Not to be left out, Tayla Jones demolished her opposition in the Women’s class to take the category win by eight minutes over fellow Yamaha riders, Jemma Wilson and Jess Gardiner.

Jones won every day and increased her lead almost every time she sat on her YZ250FX and she should was back to her best after some injury niggles this year. Jones is clearly the fastest female off road racer in Australia at the moment and she is yet to hit the peak of her powers. The win also makes back to back A4DE wins for Jones.

“Winning an event like this is always special as it is such an important race in the year,” Jones explains. “This year it was dry and dusty but there were plenty of challenges along the way so it was never easy.

“The Active8 Yamaha team were awesome and the support the team and Yamaha have shown me this year has been amazing so it’s nice to reward them with a national championship,” she said.

Chris Davey was thrown into the Active8 Yamaha team at the last minute when regular member, Beau Ralston, couldn’t recover in time from an injury but did a credible job in flying the team flag in the E3 division.

Davey claimed fourth in the E3 class and a respectable 16th outright and is to be commended in his riding during the event.

“Having the support of the Active8 Yamalube Yamaha team behind you in an event like this makes life so much easier,” Davey comments. “Even though I wasn’t in contention, the team gave me all the support I needed and it was a fun week working with them.

“Fourth in the E3 class is a good result and the riders ahead of me are talented so it was no shame finishing behind them.”

After a long week in Mansfield, Active8 Yamaha team manager, AJ Roberts, was pleased with his teams’ efforts and happy to come home with another two national championships.

“You can never predict what will happen over four long days but things went pretty well to script for us and I’m extremely happy with the results we recorded this week.

“Josh was amazing all week and showed his class to dominate a talented field in the E1 class and finish so well in the outright standings.

“Tayla is simply a step above the other girls at the moment but she continues to work hard and drives herself to be a better racer and to win by eight minutes is amazing at a national level while we threw Chris in the deep end and he did a great job. It’s not easy stepping up at an event like this and the pressure that comes with a team environment but he did a great job and all three riders can hold their heads high,” AJ ends.

The 2016 A4DE was the final event of the year for the Active8 Yamaha team and they can now enjoy a well-earned break before gearing up again for the 2017 season.
