Proformance Racing press release:
What a way to cap of the 2016 championship with such an awesome event being the Aus SX Open in Sydney. Our truck was setup on display to the public from Friday lunch time until Sunday night with thousands of people being able to get up and close to teams, there equipment and the riders.
The action inside the stadium was thick and fast with the tight track creating some great battles. Kale showed good speed throughout the weekend but poor starts would be his enemy to a top result. On the Saturday practice went well with Kale getting the track sorted very quickly from practice we had a 5hr wait until qualifying.
We lined up ready for qualifying and as soon as kale sat on the bike he noticed something was wrong. Our rear shock had failed and it was like a pogo just working with the spring. The team went to work and luckily we were able to have a shock fitted and Kale didn’t miss the session and was able to qualify in the top 20 to go through to the night program which we almost missed out on.
The team was able to repair the shock and it was time to go racing. Kale managed to get into the final on the Saturday night but a poor start meant the best he could manage was an 8th for the final which was a solid result.
The Sunday Kale unfortunately didn’t qualify for the final which was a frustrating result as his riding was good enough for a good finish but his starts didn’t help him on the Sunday. Overall it was a fantastic event and we got to engage with thousands of race fans over the weekend. Next for the team is the Tasmania Rhythm X event this weekend coming.
