Fresh off his maiden supercross victory at Avalon Raceway, CDR Yamaha’s Dean Ferris is remaining open-minded heading into this Saturday and Sunday’s prestigious AUS-X Open in Sydney.

With limited experience in supercross, Ferris stated he is yet to race within the tight confines of an indoor circuit, indicating this weekend’s event inside Qudos Bank Arena will be his first time racing under the roof of a stadium.

“I’ve never done an indoor, and I’m not going to change my program,” Ferris explained to MotoOnline.com.au. “I’m just going to go in with an open mind, and I’m sure we can get around an indoor track alright as well. I’ll just have to make sure I go in with the same attitude, same game plan and yeah, the last two rounds are going to be fun.”

The New South Welshman was the first rider to break the dominating form of series leader Justin Brayton (Honda Genuine Racing) at Melbourne’s fourth round last weekend, with the 2016 Australian motocross champion revealing he had a good feeling with the circuit from Thursday’s press day.

“I’m really pumped,” he expressed. “I came into this season with no expectations, and then they grew really fast because I went so well at the first two rounds. I had a good feeling on this track since press day – it was good in practice and good in the heat races.”

Ferris currently sits second in the championship standings heading into the weekend’s double-header season finals, 11 points behind Brayton while holding a six-point advantage over third place’s Wil Hahn (National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki).
