Opening round to be televised on Fox Sports 5 today and tomorrow.
Jimboomba’s opening round of the 2016 Australian Supercross Championship is scheduled to be televised on Fox Sports today, Tuesday 11 October, and tomorrow, Wednesday 12 October.
The broadcast will see two hours of racing coverage that will include every lap of the SX1 and SX2 main events, plus the Junior Lites and 85cc categories.
Promoter Scott Bannan told MotoOnline.com.au that he is yet to view the broadcast, however he has high expectations of how he has envisioned it.
“I actually haven’t seen the coverage,” Bannan explained. “I’ll be standing there in front of the TV like everyone else hoping it’s good. I want it be something close to what you see in America – I know that’s a big call, but they’re the tip of the sword.”
“It will be good if we can get some decent coverage and I think the sport has needed it for a long time. We had around five or six cameras around the track, and with Crumpy (Jason Crump) doing interviews, I think it should be pretty good.”
The production crew have previously delivered broadcasts for the Australian Superbike Championship, although Jimboomba’s opening round marked their first attempt at a supercross event.
“If we make any mistakes in the coverage, we’ll make sure we fix them for Toowoomba,” Bannan continued. “It’s our first crack, and it’s the same for the production guys – they’ve done superbikes before, but this is their first supercross. So if there’s anything wrong, we’ll fix it for the next one – you live and learn.”
This weekend’s second round of the Australian Supercross Championship in Toowoomba will also be broadcasted on Fox Sports, however showing times are yet to be revealed.
