Yamaha the highest-selling off-road brand to date this year.
The Australian off-road motorcycle market has seen an increase in sales throughout the first three quarters of 2016, with the latest sales figures revealing a five percent growth over the same period in 2015, signifying a positive result for the industry.
Yamaha Motor Australia has continued to be ranked as the highest-selling off-road brand to date, with the manufacturer claiming 30.4 percent of the total 25,888 off-road units sold this year. Yamaha were followed by Honda (21.9 percent), KTM (19.6 percent), Kawasaki (10.9 percent), Suzuki (10.9 percent) and Husqvarna (5.5 percent).
Yamaha’s YZ250F and YZ450F lead as the most popular motocross models, trailed by Kawasaki’s KX450F and KX250F, with Honda’s CRF250R slotting behind them in a close fifth.
Yamaha topped the charts again in the enduro category with their WR450F, followed by KTM’s range of the 500 EXC, 300 EXC, 350 EXC-F and 450 EXC. Yamaha’s WR250F remained as the highest-selling model of the quarter-litre machines, sitting sixth in the overall order.
Honda has maintained its position as Australia’s highest-selling motorcycle manufacturer across all categories, sharing 21.5 percent of the market. Yamaha trailed closely with 21.4 percent, while Kawasaki holds 9.4 percent. Harley-Davidson and Suzuki ranked fourth and fifth respectively earning nine and 8.7 percent of total motorcycles sold.
