Two newcomers join returning rider Petrov for 2017 season.
Monster Energy Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team has announced a new-look team for their 2017 FIM Motocross World Championship campaign.
Petar Petrov will remain with the team for his third season in MX2, while Britain’s Adam Sterry and France’s Stephen Rubini will join the squad following Dylan Ferrandis’ departure to the United States of America.
Sterry showed great potential scoring several top 10 finishes in the world championship this year despite an early season injury, while also going onto claim the British MX2 title.
“It’s special to join a factory team such as Kawasaki, and it will be my first time on green bikes,” Sterry explained. “Every weekend I saw the results from the team, and when I got their offer I had no questions about the team and knew that it would be good. It’s a dream team, and that’s been a dream since I was a kid.”
Rubini will make his debut in the world championship next year following an extremely successful year in the European 125cc Motocross Championship.
“I’m so happy to move to MX2 next year,” said Rubini. “To reach this agreement with Monster Energy Kawasaki. I had a good season in the European 125cc championship, and I couldn’t miss the opportunity to move straight to the world championship even if the level is much higher than in the European series.”
