GoPro unveils streamlined new range ahead of 2017.
GoPro have unveiled their updated range of HERO5 cameras designed to dramatically simplify the process of capturing, editing and sharing your content to create an end-to-end storytelling solution.
GoPro’s flagship model, the HERO5 Black, is the most powerful and easy-to-use GoPro to date. New features for the HERO5 model include a two inch touch display with simplified controls, video resolutions up to 4k at 30 frames per second, professional quality 12MP photos, voice control with support for seven languages, simple one-button control and waterproof without a housing up to 10 metres.
GoPro have also included stereo audio recording and advanced win noise reduction, professional grade electronic video stabilisation for those buttery smooth shots, distortion-free wide angle video and photos with the new linear-view setting, RAW and WDR photo modes and GPS tracking to map out your shoot locations.
In addition to the heavily updated HERO5 Black, the smaller HERO5 Session also receives significant upgrades. Video resolutions up to 4K at 30 frames per second are now available, as are professional quality 10MP photos, voice control, simple one-button control, waterproof without a housing up to 10 metres, professional grade electronic video stabilisation and distortion-free wide angle video and photos with the new linear-view setting.
To compliment these updated HERO5 offerings, GoPro also released their new cloud-based software solution. When a HERO5 Black and Session cameras are charging, they can now auto-upload photos and videos to GoPro Plus, a cloud-based subscription service that makes it easy to access, edit and share GoPro content anytime, anywhere. Editing and sharing is now easier than ever thanks to this all-new service.
GoPro Plus subscribers will also benefit from additional premium offerings including access to an expansive library of music soundtracks for editing, 20 percent off mounts and accessories, exclusive access to GoPro apparel and premium support. GoPro Plus supports all camera models, although only the HERO5 models support auto-uploading to the cloud while charging, other GoPro models can upload to GoPro Plus via the Quik App for desktop. Following a free trial, the GoPro Plus subscription costs US $4.99 per month and will be available worldwide beginning January 2017.
The Quik App for desktop users to quickly produce high-quality videos that are fun and easy to share. Simply import your videos, pick your favourite moments, choose a soundtrack from a library of songs, and Quik will automatically edit your video to the beat of the music. Quik App for mobile analyses your photos and video clips in just seconds to find the best moments, add transitions and effects, and syncs everything to the beat of the music for fast and easy video editing.
In addition to the release of the new HERO5 cameras and GoPro Plus software, GoPro also revealed their first-ever aerial offering; the Karma. Featuring a compact design that fits inside a small backback, the Karma drone includes and image-stabilisation grip that can be handheld or mounted to vehicles, gear and more. Karma is designed to make it easy for anyone to capture smooth, stabilised video during almost any activity.
Both the HERO5 Black and Session are compatible with your existing GoPro mounts and come in at a recommended retail price of $569.95 for the Black model and $459.95 for the Session.
