Yamaha Motor Australia press release:
Yamaha supported riders have again acquitted themselves well at rounds nine and ten of the Australian Off Road Championship, held new Dungog, New South Wales, over the weekend with Jemma Wilson leading home an all Yamaha podium over the weekend in the Women’s class, while Riley Graham and Scott Keegan took podium positions in the competitive E1 (250cc) division.
Jemma Wilson dominated the Women’s class taking the round win on both days and extending her lead in the championship. She showed plenty of maturity during Saturday’s Cross Country racing format to take victory and then backed that up with a burst of speed to take the win on Sunday in the sprint format of racing.
Standing alongside her on the podium each day were fellow Yamaha mounted riders, Emelie Karlsson and Jessica Gardiner. Karlsson was a model of consistency to take second place on each day while crashed slowed Gardiner who landed in third on both days.
Wilson leads the championship with two rounds remaining on 242 points, 33 ahead of her nearest rival, Gardiner on 209 and another nine back to Karlsson in third.
There was plenty of Yamaha blue in the E1 class with Riley Graham and Scott Keegan flying the flag on the YZ250FX. Graham racked up a very consistent round to finish third on both days and lock down third in the series with two rounds to go while Keegan took fifth on Saturday, who was severely effected by the flu, but bounced back strongly on day two to take second in class.
Both riders sit inside the top 11 positions outright with Keegan in ninth and Graham in 11th.
“Yamaha have strong representation in every class at the AORC and the riders are doing a great job,” states Yamaha’s Ray Howard. “The girls are amazing and have pretty much dominated their class since the opening round while the guys in the E1 class have picked up the speed and are now battling for high positions in outright honours.
“With two rounds remaining, everyone is keen to finish the AORC strongly and our bikes have proven to be reliable and performing well,” Howard ends.
