Sherco Australia press release:
Age is no barrier when you have good riders on good motorcycles in the Australian Off-Road Championship. Two of the more mature competitors in the AORC are enjoying success aboard Sherco motorcycles and there are no signs of them slowing down.
Bathurst-based rider Bjorn Osborne continues his 2016 Championship campaign with a clear 28-point lead in the Veterans Class after rounds 9 and 10 in Dungog, NSW last weekend. Riding a Sherco 450SEF-R for Jeff’s Bikes & Bits, Osborne scored a 4th and 3rd place accumulating valuable Championship points in the class for riders 35-44 years.
Riding out of Sherco dealership, Motorcycle Scene in Tasmania, Derek Grundy continued his fightback into the Championship with another dominant display in the Masters Class for riders over 45 years. Grundy blasted to a huge 4-minute win in the cross country event on Saturday and backed that up with another win on Sunday.
Grundy missed four rounds of the Championship due to injury but is now just 2 points shy of second place. With two more rounds of the AORC left to run, Grundy is looking for a strong finish to the year to cement a Championship podium place.
“I just love racing my 300SEF-R Factory edition,” Grundy explained. “It’s a shame I missed some rounds with my broken collar bone but that’s the way it is sometimes with racing off-road. Anything can happen. But for now I’m just enjoying racing my bike and if I can pick up a win here and there and get onto the podium at the end of the Championship for Sherco then I will be happy.”
Rounds 11 and 12 of the AORC will be held at Penshurst, Victoria on September 10-11, 2016.
