MX2 World Championship contender injured in Switzerland.
A broken arm sustained at the Switzerland round of the 2016 MXGP World Championship is almost certain to rule Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dylan Ferrandis out of the 2016 Motocross of Nations (MXoN) in Italy on 24-25 September.
Ferrandis was fastest in free practice on Saturday, but saw his title hopes vanish in timed practice when he clashed with a competitor. He’s since undergone surgery, but his grand prix season is over.
“I had a good feeling with the track in the practice sessions and got the pole pretty easily in the free practice session,” Ferrandis said in a team statement. “Then in the timed practice period I started a fast lap but on the finish jump another rider changed his line and hit my front wheel. It was impossible to avoid the crash and, unfortunately, when I was on the ground I already knew that my right arm was broken.”
The French announcement listed Benoit Paturel, who is currently third in the 2016 MX2 World Championship chase, as the reserve rider. It’s anticipated he will join Romain Febvre and Gautier Paulin in the Maggiora event next month.
