Motul MX Nationals series heads to Conondale in Queensland.
Round seven of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals is set to take place at the iconic Green Park circuit in Queensland; this round serves as the only event on the calendar where tear-off vision systems are prohibited.
Form
Our picks:
Dean Ferris (MX1) – Not that riders such as Matt Moss, Kirk Gibbs and Todd Waters, to name a few, are not strong chances of winning this event, but Ferris is in form and also has a win under his belt from the Conondale Cup earlier this season. Ferris won the event ahead of Moss, Waters, Gibbs and more, so he’s looking pretty good for this weekend’s event.
Caleb Ward (MX2) – Ward is coming off an impressive showing in Nowra with a 1-1 sweep in the MX2 category. He’s determined to find his way back to the top of the championship ladder and looks to be returning to his early season form.
Next best:
Matt Moss (MX1) – Moss was on fire in Nowra, he was the man to beat in the MX1 class and it was a small mistake that saw him hand the victory to Ferris in moto two. Moss will be fired up this weekend in Conondale following that costly error.
Nathan Crawford (MX2) – After poor starts hindered his Nowra result, the current MX2 series leader is going to be focusing on solid starts and consistent motos in order to continue carrying that all-important red plate.
Outside chances:
Kirk Gibbs (MX1) – The factory KTM rider, defending champion and series leader will enter Conondale carrying a knee injury sustained at round six. It’s something that will obviously bother him, but Gibbs will push through in order to maintain his series lead.
Jed Beaton (MX2) – The DPH Motorsport rider currently sits third in points, just two points out of second, after leading the series earlier in the year. Beaton is still in the hunt for this championship and will be right there this weekend battling for the round win.
Watch for:
MX1 – Todd Waters, Kade Mosig, Dylan Long, Jay Wilson
MX2 – Jayden Rykers, Jake Moss, Dylan Wills, Wilson Todd
