Suzuki's flagship motocross machine gets a styling update.
Suzuki has updated its RM-Z450 for 2017 with a host of changes aimed at refining the look of the class-leading motocrosser. The changes for 2017 include new black anodised rims and triple clamps, yellow-top seat cover, yellow rear guard, black sideplates and all-new graphics.
Unchanged is the 449cc DOHC engine that packs the perfect combination of broad useable torque and arm-stretching power. Through feedback from the factory race teams, the piston, piston pin and conrod have been developed with the use of Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis, while the piston pin is also Diamond-Like-Carbon (DLC) coated for less friction and increased durability.
The 2017 RM-Z450 is equipped with class leading technology such as the Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control (S-HAC) system, which helps riders achieve better launches from the start gate . There are three modes riders can choose for the best option according to their skill level and the starting gate conditions.
Additionally, riders have the ability to adjust the engine performance by plugging in either of two additional fuel-setting couplers. Riders can opt for a richer-than-stock or leaner-than-stock fuel setting to make the most of any riding conditions. Included with the bike, these couplers can be easily plugged in trackside.
The 49mm Showa SFF-Air TAC fork consists of three air chambers that can be easily adjusted by using a hand-held air pump to quickly optimise the bike to the terrain. Fitted as standard equipment, the top-shelf Renthal aluminium Fatbar offers more strength and less vibration than standard size aluminium handlebars.
Excel aluminium rims are made specifically to withstand rugged racing environments including Supercross, outdoor Motocross and off-road. The aluminium-alloy black anodized rims are designed and shaped to stay strong and to maintain their good looks – which are improved now in black.
To celebrate the launch of the 2017 models, Suzuki is offering customers a bonus Race Pack consisting of: Genuine Suzuki Worx Bike Stand, bike service kit, spare air filter and replacement front and rear brake pad sets on every 2017 RM-Z purchased before 30 September, 2016.
The 2017 RM-Z450 will be available from dealers later this month, for an unchanged recommended price of $10,990. For more information head to www.suzukimotorcycles.com.au.
