CDR Yamaha’s Dean Ferris is back to fighting fitness and ready to battle it out for the remaining five rounds of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals series following his major incident at Wanneroo in May.

Fortunately for Ferris, the five-week mid-season break was scheduled to take place directly after the Western Australian event, allowing the returning MXGP contender ample time to recover from the opening lap fall.

“I took a week or so off after the WA round just to heal up a bit and have been head down ever since,” said Ferris. “I started with some good off track fitness and then got back on the bike and instantly felt the improvement.”

Spending multiple seasons touring the world motocross circuit, the Queenslander enters this weekend’s Nowra event with minimal track time on the tight and technical layout.

“Nowra isn’t a track I have raced a lot in the past, but it’s dirt and jumps so I’m sure I will be fine,” he added. “I’m glad the break is over as I’m ready to go racing again.”

Following Ferris’ round five crash and DNF, he now sits third overall in the premier class standings, 27 points behind series leader Kirk Gibbs of the KTM Motocross Racing Team.
