Husqvarna MXD ace recovering from minor mid-season knee surgery.
Current Motul MX Nationals MXD series leader Connor Tierney is on the mend after undergoing surgery following Murray Bridge’s fourth round of the series in South Australia.
Tierney was forced to undergo minor knee surgery in order to fix a torn meniscus that continued to cause the knee to lock up throughout the first half of the season.
“It was a pretty minor surgery, so that was good and I was able to go back to the hotel with my Dad right after it,” Tierney told MotoOnline.com.au. “My knee was jamming up and I couldn’t get the swelling down before the operation, so I came into Murray Bridge unable to ride the bike for probably a week and a half before that event.”
Tierney expects a short recovery period and hopes to return to riding next week in preparation for the MX Nationals series return at Nowra on 3 July, now a home round of sorts for the Western Australian who now bases himself out of Wollongong in New South Wales.
“It was just a patch up job, so I’m hoping to be back on the bike hopefully next week,” he said. “Hopefully I’ll get some bike time before Nowra which is actually a bit of a home round for me now since it’s close to Wollongong where I’ve been living with Ryan Marmont. I’m pretty confident at that track, so hopefully I’ll do pretty well there.”
Tierney will be forced out of this weekend’s Manjimup 15,000 after being announced on the rider list for the iconic event initially.
