National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Kade Mosig, Matt Moss and Jake Moss proved consistency is the key to keeping their 2016 MX Nationals title chances alive with a solid day of results during round four at Murray Bridge, South Australia.

In windy conditions, Kade Mosig’s results at Murray Bridge exceeded his expectations after he spent most of the three-week break between races recovering from a horror crash at Broadford.

Mosig and his 2016 KX450F holeshot the opening MX1 race and led for 20 minutes before getting passed and crossing the line in a remarkable second position. A slower start in the second race saw him work his way through the pack, in increasing pain, to finish sixth and fifth overall for the day.

“Today was tough because of the minimal preparation time, but my speed and fitness in that opening moto exceeded my expectations,” he reflected. “All in all though, I’m really happy. My Kawasaki was awesome today and it’s good to show everyone I have the speed.

“I was a bit sore and weak in that second race, I didn’t get a great start and as soon as I found myself behind my teammate Matt, I just rode the moto out and focused on gaining some solid points.”

Mosig’s solid points’ haul sees him rise to sixth overall in the MX1 points standings, following a confidence-inspiring return to racing for the round.

Multi-time Australian Motocross Champion Matt Moss overcame a tough start in the opening MX1 race to claw his way back through the pack to seventh place. The second race saw him complete the opening lap in fifth position, a result that he held until the chequered flag on his way to sixth overall for the day.

“I was a bit disappointed with my results today, to be honest,” Moss said afterward. “It was just one of those days where I struggled with the track and my start in the first race wasn’t great. We’ll put some hard work in this week to turn it around and come back firing at Wanneroo next weekend.”

In terms of the MX1 championship, Moss currently sits in fourth, just 24 points off the championship lead to maintain his challenge in the mid-stages of the 10-round series.

In the MX2 class, Jake Moss continued his consistent string of results with a fourth overall. Despite struggling to come to terms with the track, Moss and his 2016 KX250F led a large chunk of the second moto before eventually finishing third.

“I’ve always struggled on tracks that aren’t necessarily rough, but are fast and rutted,” Moss explained. “Unfortunately, in that first race I felt alright, but had a small problem and had no back brake for 20 minutes. I still salvaged some good points and it felt good to run at the front of the second race, even if I didn’t feel 100 percent today. We’ll keep chipping away.”

The fifth round of the 2016 MX Nationals is scheduled for Wanneroo, Western Australia, this coming weekend on Sunday, 29 May.
