Refreshed National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team ready for Murray Bridge
Kawasaki Motors Australia press release:
After a well-timed three-week break in the intense 2016 Motul MX Nationals program, National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki racers Matt Moss, Kade Mosig and Jake Moss are refreshed and ready for the iconic orange loam of Murray Bridge, South Australia.
After three challenging hard-pack tracks in a row, Sunday’s fourth round at Murray Bridge is the first sand-based circuit the championship will visit, with all three riders eagerly anticipating the change.
Multiple Australian Motocross Champion Matt Moss is currently poised on the verge of the top three and just 13 points off the MX1 championship lead. Moss, 27, has firmly established himself as one of the title favourites and is relishing the opportunity to put his 2016 Kawasaki KX450F back on top this weekend.
“In the big scheme of the championship, 13 points is nothing,” Moss said. “There’s a group of four riders, including myself, who have become established as the riders to beat, so now it’s a matter of putting myself in a good position every race and giving it everything I have.”
Also in the MX1 class, Victorian Kade Mosig has confirmed he’ll return to battle at Murray Bridge despite a brutal crash at the previous round at Broadford where he was struck by another rider. Initial concerns that he’d fractured his pelvis have been waylaid and Mosig is eager to return to one of his favourite tracks on Sunday.
“I took quite a big hit to the back and tore my abductor muscle, but I’ve recovered really well and I’m ready for Murray Bridge,” he confirmed. “Despite a perfect pre-season, this year hasn’t gone to plan and after dropping a moto at Broadford I’ve got to claw my way back up the ladder. We’ll keep trying to improve every week and build as we go.”
In the MX2 class, Jake Moss has consistently proven he’s a championship front-runner on the 2016 KX250F and is tied on third in the points chase, just 11 markers off the lead. Sunday’s round at Murray Bridge could potentially be a defining moment in the highly competitive class and Moss believes he has the speed and confidence to make his move for the points lead.
“Every year we’ve been to Murray Bridge has been a little bit different, but as far as the championship goes I want to be that guy at the front now,” Moss commented. “I feel I have the speed and the confidence to make that happen. I’ve had a couple of great weeks of training, so I’m ready to make it happen on Sunday.”
The gates will open at 7:30am for Sunday’s highly-anticipated fourth round of the Motul MX Nationals at Murray Bridge in South Australia on 22 May. Tickets are available at the gate.
