Yamalube Star Racing Yamaha’s Cooper Webb will contest this weekend’s opening round of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Hangtown in Sacramento.

The two-time Monster Energy AMA Supercross 250SX Western Regional champion sustained a broken wrist in early April, an injury he is still yet to recover from.

Webb rode through the pain to clinch his second-consecutive supercross championship on 7 May in Las Vegas, and according to a recent social media post, he plans to continue doing so as the outdoor season kicks off.

“Five more days until gate drop,” Webb wrote on Instagram. “Ready to see what I can do this summer.”

The 2016 season opener will mark the second year in a row that Webb has entered the series under an injury cloud. 2015 saw him nursing an ankle injury which he then re-injured during the second moto of the event forcing him out of the following four rounds.
