Australian export Hunter Lawrence claimed his maiden FIM Motocross World Championship EMX250 overall victory in dominating fashion at the grand prix of Germany.

The Monster Energy CLS Junior Team Green rider kicked off his weekend in Teutschenthal claiming Saturday’s moto one victory by 15 seconds over his closest rival.

After a battling for the lead with American Darian Sanayei, Lawrence then went on to claim the moto two win by another impressive 10-second margin.

“I felt good all weekend long on this track,” said Lawrence. “I had a good qualifying session and got a good start in both races. In the first one on Saturday I wasn’t pushing too much during the opening laps, just doing my things and got a win.

“Today I had a good battle with Darian, when I was following him I was taking some rocks on my body, but I finally passed him and pulled away. It was a good weekend. I want to thank all my crew and the team – it’s good to reward them for all the hard work they’ve done.”

Lawrence now sits second overall in the 2016 EMX250 championship points standings, just 12 points behind series leader Thomas Kjer Olsen.
