Verdict:
It was an extremely satisfied Dean Ferris who departed Appin as the winner on Sunday afternoon, collecting the red plates in the process. Ferris simply wanted it most when it counted in moto one and got the job done, which paid off immensely when third in the second secured the overall. It was also all smiles for Brett Metcalfe when all was said and done, winning a moto and scored P2 overall. He’ll win a round before he returns to the US after round four. As for Todd Waters, third on the podium was another strong finish with a good bag of points, on a circuit he – like the three ‘internationals’ – wasn’t overly comfortable on. Fourth was also acceptable for number one plate holder Gibbs, who was virtually tied to Ferris and Waters all day (an aggressive move from Ferris on him on the final lap of moto one denied what would have been a mega race win). That opening moto was just epic! And previous title leader Matt Moss may have been fifth overall, but considering he wasn’t well at all on the day, he’ll take that. This is going to heat up even further from this point.

Verdict:
There were a number of delighted riders and teams come the final flag falling. Caleb Ward made it two from two for the year in terms of overalls, while Kale Makeham’s second moto win was a really great moment of the round. It could have possibly been a clean-sweep for Ward save a crash in the second, but nonetheless he did what he had to do. Makeham was the runner-up overall and despite a penalty in moto two, Luke Arbon grabbed his first top three of the year. From here you will likely see a variety of talent feature on the podium, but consistency will be vital if anyone’s to overcome the sheer form of Ward this time around in the standings. Don’t discount Jake Moss though, claiming second in moto one but crashing heavily in the second, or Nato Crawford, who was second in moto two. They’ll be back on the box again sooner rather than later. And in looking at the fastest individual laps, Wilson Todd was top of the charts in qualifying and race one, but his results didn’t reflect his speed.
