Jayden Rykers will contest the 2016 Motul MX Nationals series with the expanding Davey Motorsports outfit and continue to receive support from KTM Australia.

The talented Western Australian will enter his rookie MX2 season aboard his favoured and factory-supported KTM 250 SX with the Davey Motorsports team providing transport and facilities at each round of the series.

“I was speaking to Tam Paul from KTM Australia, we sorted out a deal and fortunatley for me Davey Motorsports were interested in helping someone out in terms of transport to get to all the rounds,” Rykers told MotoOnline.com.au. “That made things a lot easier and on both sides it just seems to work well together.”

Rykers will now fly to each of the 10 scheduled rounds and have his father fly in from Western Australia as his mechanic with the Davey Motorsports crew during the weekend.

“My main goal this year was to avoid driving to the races, as that is what I was doing last year,” he explained. “This year I can get my bike to each rider, have the facilities at the track to wash my bike, be under an awning and everything like that.

“This year I’ll also fly my Dad in from Western Australia for each round to be my mechanic. This is definitely the next level up from what I was doing last year, I’m going to be really comfortable with the same bike and working with my Dad again.”

The 19-year-old looks forward to an improved schedule that will allow him more time mid-week to train instead of spending valuable days driving to and from events.

“My schedule is going to be better this year as last year I had to leave on the Thursday or Friday to drive to the track, this year I can still be on the bike on those days training,” said Rykers. “Also instead of spending Monday and Tuesday driving back, I save a lot of time there too.

“The whole driving side of things really does take it out of you mentally and it fatigues you. To be flying in for the races is a big advantage for me, I should definitely be able to step up the results and perform better than I have in the previous seasons.”

Following promising results late in the 2015 season and a two month stint in Europe, Rykers will be aiming for consistent top five finishes, podiums and a possible round win during his rookie MX2 season.

“During the end of last year I started to perform better and then I went to Europe for two months, after coming back from that and working on a few things I see myself as a consistent top five guy with podiums at most of the rounds,” he added. “That’s what I want to acheive, consistent top fives, podiums and hopefully a round win.”

Rykers will be joined by teammates Daniel Banks and fellow Western Australian Michael Menchi in the MX1 class with Northern Territory rider Luke Abela contesting the MXD category.
