Motorcycle sales remain steady during last year.
Australia’s new motorcycle market was steady in 2015, with motorcycle, ATV and scooter sales reaching 108,711 to be on par with 2014 figures. Honda was the largest selling brand, holding 22.5 percent of the total market.
In second place was Yamaha with 21.4 percent (23,290), while Kawasaki was third with 9.8 percent (10,675), Suzuki fourth with nine percent (9806) and Harley-Davidson fifth with nine percent (9790).
Off-road motorcycle purchases accounted for almost 35 percent of total market sales, with 37,982 Australians taking home a new off-road bike. The popularity of them has remained relatively steady from 2014, with the 37,982 sales representing a 0.8 percent increase on 2014 figures.
Yamaha again led the market for off-road motorcycles, selling 31.7 percent (12,048) of the total off‑road bikes sold. Yamaha was followed by Honda with 27.2 percent (10,318), KTM with 15.2 percent (5787), Suzuki with 11.7 percent (4432) and Kawasaki with 9.8 percent (3713).
The Yamaha TTR50 was the highest selling off-road model overall after edging out the Honda CRF50F, with Yamaha’s PW50 third overall. Leading the way in motocross was the YZ250F, while in enduro it was the WR450F that sold most.
