Kevin wins the KTM prize after Camp Quality Convoy

KTM Australia press release:

Wollongong local Kevin Duncan is one very happy participant from this year’s annual i98FM Camp Quality Convoy fund-raiser, having just taken delivery of a brand-new 2016 KTM 250 EXC-F.

The machine was donated by KTM Australia as part of its ongoing commitment to a significant number of important charities, including the i98FM Camp Quality Convoy.

This year’s running of the massively popular annual fundraiser saw over 1000 motorcycles and 800 trucks take part in the 77-kilometre journey – lined with thousands of enthusiastic supporters – in the Illawarra region of NSW.

The funds help Camp Quality deliver vital services for children with cancer and their families, and according to The Dirt Bike Factory Principal and Mister Motocross legend Anthony Gunter who presented the incredible prize from KTM, it’s only getting bigger.

“This year’s convoy was another astonishing success, again destroying the previous year’s fundraising record mark to raise a brand new record mark of $1.725 million.

“Every year there is an auction for the privilege of being the lead motorcycle and the lead truck, and groups of guys get together in each case to make their bid,” says Gunter. “This year’s winning bid for the bikes was $92,000, and for the winning truck it was $220,000!”

While the winner of the KTM motorcycle, Kevin Duncan was understandably stunned to win the bike, Gunter was also surprised to discover that it wasn’t the first time he’d met him.

“Kevin Duncan who won the bike is actually a guy that, when I was doing my apprenticeship years ago as a plumber, was doing his building trade as a builder, and we worked on a few of the same jobs. We both remember that time and talked about a couple of guys that we knew there were turkeys or whatever, so it was a bit of a small world moment!”
