Radar: 2015 Australian Supercross Rd6 Melbourne

Unsung performers we spotted in Victoria on Saturday night.

MotoOnline.com.au highlights three standout performances from the weekend’s sixth round of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship at Knights Stadium, Victoria. Radar isn’t strictly about the winners, it’s about the unsung racers that we spot performing above expectations on any given race weekend.

Taylor Potter (Penrite Honda Racing) – SX1, third overall:
After finishing runner-up in last year’s SX2 series, we haven’t seen much of Taylor Potter in 2015 as he had to depart mid-season to race in Germany, while also dealing with the sad loss of his mother recently. But a chance opportunity to ride with Penrite Honda in SX1 at the final round soon came and he made the most of it, scoring a fairytale podium behind Lawson Bopping and Dan McCoy on debut in the premier class. Respect!

Aaron Tanti (Yamaha) – SX1, eighth overall:
After Craig Anderson Racing withdrew from the series on the eve of Bathurst’s opening round, Aaron Tanti had to re-plan his season and eventually found himself on board a privateer YZ450F in the SX1 ranks. As he did throughout the motocross series, Tanti impressed with a ride beyond his years to finish eighth in the main event against far more experienced opposition. It will be good to see him back again for a full season next year.

Privateers – SX1/SX2:
We usually limit Radar inclusions to individual performances, however we can’t say enough about the many local privateers who gridded up for the final round of the Australian Supercross Championship. With many of the factory regulars out through injury, private teams and entries really made a difference for the Melbourne finals to ensure fans got their money’s worth with packed start gates alongside the likes of CDR Yamaha’s Dan Reardon and Kade Mosig.
