Sydney hosts the inaugural Australian Open of Supercross.
Form
Our picks:
Chad Reed (SX1) – With his international experience, plenty of laps indoors during the early stages of his career and a home crowd behind him, we’re not looking past Aussie icon Reed for the win. It’d be a perfect way to enter 2016.
Jimmy Decotis (SX2) – As the dominant rider in the national SX2 series, with three wins from four starts, Decotis will be the man to beat once again in Sydney. The fans will be right behind him as well, being a top US racer.
Next best:
Cooper Webb (SX1) – If Webb quickly finds comfort in the tight confines of Allphones Arena, he should be able to overcome Reed and the rest of the Aussies. Starts will be critical, but we’re excited to watch the 20-year-old in action.
Luke Clout (SX2) – He’s been knocking on the door all year long, but in his home race this weekend Serco Yamaha’s Clout would love nothing more than to take a breakthrough win. Especially since he was a non-finisher last weekend.
Outside chances:
Matt Moss (SX1) – After watching Moss slice his way through the field at Brisbane Entertainment Centre last year, it’s clear that the reigning champion has the indoors covered. A win would go a long way toward his title chances as well.
Jackson Richardson (SX2) – Like Clout, Richardson has been there or thereabouts all season long. His US experience will help him in a stadium packed full of fans, but to get this win he needs to get out front and ride a nice, clean race.
Watch for:
SX1 – Dan Reardon, Kade Mosig, Adam Monea
SX2 – Luke Arbon, Lewis Woods, Dylan Wills
