Team Motul Suzuki press release:
Team Motul Suzuki have made the short trip down the road to Allphones Arena at Homebush in Sydney for the AUS-X Open as the event plays host to the fifth round of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship this Saturday the 28th of November.
Current Australian supercross champion Matt Moss will lead the Suzuki line up into the big event with one thing on his mind and that is to close the points gap in the championship race before the final round that is being held the following weekend in Victoria.
The New South Welshman heads into his home state round just 13 points down in the championship race and with international rider Cooper Webb and Australian Chad Reed locked in to race the event, he knows it could provide a great opportunity to make up some valuable points on what will be a tight and technical track.
“There are only two points paying races left in this championship and we know we need to reel back in some points this weekend in Sydney,” Moss commented.
“We had a chance to ride the track this morning and things are looking really good, the dirt is tacky and it should make for some great racing action on the indoor circuit.
“We have a couple of new riders in for this round who are sure to mix things up a little and hopefully that can play into our favour.
“At the end of the day we will be out there to focus on ourselves and come away with the best result possible. The aim will be to head into the final round in a position to challenge for mine and the teams third straight title.” Moss concluded.
Though unable to race last weekends main event in Jimboomba due to re-aggravating his ankle during the nights heat races, Team Motul Suzuki’s Kale Makeham is ready to take to the track tomorrow and race in front of a sold out crowd at Allphones Arena.
“The ankle is feeling good and I can’t wait to get out on track this weekend.” Makeham enthused.
“I can’t wait to get out and race in front of the sold out crowd on Saturday. I have seen some footage and photos from the press day this morning and every looks unreal.
“Also I am looking forward to seeing Ricky Carmichael in action, it was a little surreal seeing my bike loaded up in the team truck alongside the bike RC will be riding this weekend, it is a bit of a dream come true,”
With Carmichael being drafted into the event early this week, team manager Jay Foreman has been hard at work preparing the 2016 RM-Z450 that the American Motocross and Supercross legend will ride at the AUS-X Open.
“We are looking forward to this weekend, it is a very important round for our team as we aim for our third straight SX1 championship.” Foreman commented.
“Matt is ready to go, the bikes are ready, we have a little track time under our belt from this mornings press day and now we wait to see how things unfold on Saturday evening.
“It is also great to have the opportunity to help out Carmichael this weekend, he is a massive name in the sport and will be a fan favourite this weekend in Sydney.” Foreman added.
