Penrite Honda Wilson MX press release:
Jackson Richardson put Penrite Honda Wilson MX on the SX2 podium once again on the weekend, when the third installment of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship was run and won at Wayville in South Australia.
Coming off a podium result at round two, Richardson headed to Adelaide quietly confident he could back up his result – and when the gates dropped on Saturday night back it up he did, finishing the evening on the third step of the podium alongside Luke Clout and Jimmy Decotis.
For teammate Geran Stapleton, who has been plagued with top five results recently, the Victorian had a round to forget on the weekend – racing to eighth in his heat before taking seventh in the main event for the evening after being caught up in a first turn pile up.
Jake Williams, who had a nightmare round two in Queensland where he ended up in the hands of Racesafe, managed to turn his luck around at Wayville, racing to tenth in heat one, before wrapping up the main event in 17th position.
Jackson Richardson SX2 – 3rd Overall
“It felt good to be back on the podium again, and to be there two rounds in a row is a big confidence booster,” he said. “The bike was handling awesome all night, and the track at Wayville ended up being quite technical, so a big shout out to the Wilson’s team for helping me out. “We have a bit of a break now before round four, so I’ll work on a couple of things, and just keep pushing towards that SX2 title.”
Geran Stapleton SX2 – 7th Overall
“I’m pretty disappointed with the weekend to be honest, it’s not the result I was looking for,” he said. “I felt good heading in to the round, but I had a guy ruin my heat race which gave me a really bad gate pick for the main. “I got caught in a first turn pile up in the main, and after that it was just about salvaging points. It’s not the round I wanted to have, but I’ll just have to see what we can do at Jimboomba.”
Jake Williams SX2 – 17th Overall
“Well the best thing about the weekend was that the track and the bike were awesome, we have great equipment, it’s just me staying on that’s the issue (laughs),” he said. “I’m not sure if it’s the lucky number 13 or my girly haircut but I can’t seem to stay on the bike. “I managed to salvage 17th even though I crashed at the end of the whoops which was better than my results at other rounds, so maybe at Jimboomba I can pull my finger out a bit.”
