Verdict:
It’s the biggest rivalry in Australian motocross as we speak; Matt Moss vs. Dan Reardon. Fans at Jimboomba were treated to some fascinating battles between the pair on Saturday night, which ultimately saw Reardon break through for a ‘home’ victory and he took the red plates with it. As for Moss, he was the fastest rider on track once again, however some costly mistakes bumped him down the order to third on the podium – a remarkable result all things considered. In between them at race’s end was Adam Monea, which gets his campaign back on track, while fellow outdoor standouts Kade Mosig and Kirk Gibbs enjoyed consistent finishes. A notable name down the order this time was American Gavin Faith, a result which he will want to limit if he’s to factor for the title. However, when all’s said and done, all eyes are on Reardon and Moss.

Verdict:
Penrite Honda has been under fire for fielding an all-international team this year, however so far it’s paying off for the team. After winning the SX2 title last year with Gavin Faith, the arrival of fellow American Jimmy Decotis sees the CRF250R program pick up where it left off (they didn’t enter one outdoors) and Decotis has been all class. Funnily enough, a second Honda slotted into second in the form of American-based North Queenslander Jackson Richardson, as part of the Penrite-backed Wilson MX outfit. And third, on debut with DPH Peter Stevens Yamaha, was another QLD racer in Wade Hunter. There are a number of new faces in the SX2 mix and you’ve got to love that level of competition regardless of where the riders come from. Don’t rule Luke Clout out of the title chase yet, the Serco Yamaha rider fourth at Jimboomba and once again right in the mix despite being off the podium.
