Unsung performers we spotted at Bathurst on Saturday night.
MotoOnline.com.au highlights three standout performances from the weekend’s first round of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship at Bathurst. Radar isn’t strictly about the winners, it’s about the unsung racers that we spot performing above expectations on any given race weekend.
Sam Martin (Byrner’s Suzuki) – SX1, sixth overall:
We’ve seen little of Martin in 2015 to date, however as usual when supercross comes around he was a factor in the premier SX1 ranks. His target heading into the weekend was a top five finish and while he fell just short of that, the result was a reminder to him and everybody else that podiums aren’t out of the question.
Lewis Woods (Davey Motorsports KTM) – SX2, sixth overall:
One year ago things were looking really positive for Woods as part of the factory Honda outfit, before a broken leg at Bathurst dashed his hopes of a strong supercross campaign. Now he’s back in the mix alongside Jack Simpson at Davey Motorsports KTM and was impressive at Bathurst in the SX2 division.
Kyle Webster (SFC Racing Yamaha) – SX2, eighth overall:
Webster made our Radar feature at Coolum’s MX Nations finals and we’ve had to include him again following Bathurst, where he battled to eighth in the main event. It was the Western Australian’s first-ever supercross race and after a strong lead-up working alongside teammate Dan McCoy, Webster’s potential is standing out.
