Verdict:
Just like last year, Moss was the class of the premier class, qualifying first, winning his heat and the main event. It was a pretty clean run for the defending champion, however he faces a fresh adversary in former champion Reardon this season. Moss collected Reardon on his way past in the heat race, which could result in further contact before the year’s out between the pair – we all know there’s no love lost between them. Aside from that, Faith was as strong as we suspected he would be upon transition to the 450, while the rest of the field had a pretty mixed round in tough, rutted and slick conditions. One rider to watch who didn’t ultimately get a result in the main event was Bopping, once again proving he’s as quick as ever amongst the front-runners.

Verdict:
The most entertaining race of the whole evening was the SX2 main, where Decotis managed to overcome the fast-starting Clout for a debut victory. It’s going to be a tight battle all season long and every point will count, so getting the first win was an important result for the American import. Behind them, Arbon was strong all night with his heat race win and third on the podium, regaining the type of form we haven’t seen since last year. And alongside the podium finishers, Richardson had a strong start to the season, as did Stapleton and even Woods upon return to national competition. There’s a lot of depth in this class, so lets see how it pans out.
