The sun goes down, the lights come up and Yamaha racing are ready for action. Yamaha and its three factory supported race teams are back for 2015 and plan to shake up the Australian Supercross Championship, starting on October 11.

After a year on the sidelines Yamaha are back and in a big way with seven riders across three factory teams and looking to continue on their already successful 2015 motocross season. Add to that Yamaha’s support riders and juniors and it’s going to look very blue in the stadiums of Australia shortly.

CDR Yamaha – SX1
The CDR Yamaha team headline the SX1 assault with a three pronged rider attack. Young gun Jacob Wright is back on track after recovering from knee surgery at the beginning of the year and out to make up for lost time. Wright, who has plenty of supercross experience has set lofty goals for the revamped championship and wants to make an instant impact.

Kade Mosig is full of confidence after finishing a very impressive second overall at the MX Nationals recently and ready to get back in the ring as soon as possible. Immediately after his MX success, Mosig got right to work on his supercross skills and had the track in his back yard rebuilt in preparation for the season.

Dan Reardon also didn’t waste time once the outdoor championship was over and went straight into supercross mode just two days after Coolum. Reardon, who has raced at the highest levels in supercross after a four year stint in the US is ultra-motivated to get back indoors and in his preferred environment.

“For the first time this year, we have all three guys up and running and all are putting in the hard yards. All of them are motivated to do well and with a six round championship it’s important that we start strongly and continue to build on the momentum we gathered at the end of the MX Nationals,” says team owner, Craig Dack.

“I’m confident we have the riders and the equipment to do well, the 2016 Yamaha YZ450F is an extremely good bike and it will be the riders that adapt to supercross the fastest that will do well as all three of them are talented supercross riders,” Dack ends.

Riders: Kade Mosig / Dan Reardon / Jacob Wright

Serco Yamaha – SX2
Serco Yamaha will continue with the two rider line up that finished second and fourth in the motocross championship. Luke Clout and Jed Beaton will fly the Serco Yamaha flag in the MX2 category with good results expected from both.

Clout loves the atmosphere and tight racing supercross provides and has previously shown he is as quick as anyone around a supercross track. With the disappointment of missing out on the MX Nationals championship, Clout is motivated to get a number 1 back on his YZ250F as fast as possible.

For Beaton, supercross will be all new but if the first few days of testing were any indication, then Beaton will have no trouble tackling the big jumps and bar jarring whoops supercross is known for.

“We have taken this supercross championship very seriously,” states Serco Yamaha owner, Gavin Eales. “We invested in a track for the riders and gave them a good training and testing facility to ensure they have everything they need to do well. I’m a big fan of supercross myself as it is an exciting sport to watch and a great way for Serco and Yamaha to promote our products.”

Riders: Luke Clout / Jed Beaton

GYTR Yamaha – SXD
This years’ championship will also see a four round SXD or Under 19 championship to help develop up and coming riders and help them acquire he skills o race supercross at a high level.

Mitch Evans will be experiencing supercross for the first time in his career and is exciting to get racing. Evans showed he could pick things up quickly in his first hit out on a tight and jump-laden track. Evans will only benefit from the track time and experience this class provides and will hold him in good stead for the future.

“I have been doing a lot of track time to adjust to supercross and so far things have been going well. I’m sure racing will be a little different but I’m really looking forward to getting on the track and racing at night where the atmosphere is always better,” Evans said.

Jordan Hill has been drafted in to the seat vacated by MXD Champion, Wilson Todd, who will sit out supercross with a knee injury. Hill, the current Australian Junior Supercross champion, feels right at home on a supercross track and is over the moon about this opportunity to work with the GYTR Yamaha team.

“It’s a great opportunity to ride for the GYTR Yamaha team and I really happy with how things have gone since I have gotten on the bike. I have always liked supercross and had pretty good results in it, so hopefully with the extra support, I can continue to improve and develop as a rider.”

Riders: Mitch Evans / Jordan Hill

Round one of the championship kicks off in Bathurst on October 11, the same weekend as the V8 Supercars so the town will be over flowing with rev heads. The series then works its way through Jimboomba in Queensland, Adelaide, Coolum, Sydney and then the final round in Melbourne on December 5.
