Starts deny Team Australia rider chance of strong results.
Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Todd Waters was affected by two bad starts in the 2015 Motocross of Nations at Ernee, France, last weekend as part of Team Australia alongside Dean Ferris and Luke Clout.
Waters, who led the Australian team as our MXGP entry, put in a consistent effort with 13-12 moto results in the iconic event, but was never truly in the mix while battling through the field.
“The Motocross of Nations is such an amazing event, but from a team point of view things can change fast,” Waters said. “That’s what happened to the Australian team in the last moto, but it’s always an awesome atmosphere and this year was really something special.
“For me it was tough. If you get a good start and run near the front it’s amazing, but I didn’t get great starts and wasn’t in the action. When a rider falls right in front of you and you get taken down, like happened to me in the first moto, things are over before they’ve begun. It’s unfortunate, but as we all know it can happen in racing.”
Team Australia finished seventh overall in this year’s running, which was taken out overall by the home Team France of Romain Febvre, Marvin Musquin and Gautier Paulin for the second consecutive year.
