Multiple-time national champion signs 2016 deal.
The withdrawal of Team Motul Suzuki won’t have any impact on the future of multiple Australian motocross and supercross champion Matt Moss, who has revealed he’s already signed a contract for 2016.
Moss is yet to announce what team he will ride for next year, but the 27-year-old confirmed he has signed a new deal prior to the upcoming Australian Supercross Championship as planned.
“Next year is very secure,” Moss told MotoOnline.com.au. “I’ve done my deal for next year and I’m really looking forward to the year that’s ahead. I think we’ve got everything in place and I will definitely be ready to take after that championship next year. I know that [the team] has a great structure behind them, great people, so I’m really looking forward to 2016.”
Team Motul Suzuki’s closure will spell an end to Moss’ lengthy association with the brand and Jay Foreman Racing, in which he won numerous titles for including the premier class 2013 and 2014 MX1 MX Nationals championships, along with double SX1 Australian Supercross Championships.
“Obviously I’ve had a lot of success with Suzuki, which is a great brand, and that success came through having a great relationship with Jay and Jess Foreman,” Moss continued. “Out of the whole outcome, that’s the biggest shame – Jay Foreman has been with Suzuki for 20 years.
“He’s won multiple championships, so to see him and Jess out of the job is the biggest heart breaker of it all. I’m racer, so I can switch teams when I feel I need to, but ultimately I’ve had a great career with Suzuki and we still have one more championship together to go in supercross.
“I’d love to send Jess and Jay out on a high with another championship, I’m not sure what they will do after this, but I’d love to do that for Jess as one of my best mates and Jay as well, who is obviously a very close friend.”
Despite an injury-affected MX Nationals championship defence this year, Moss will enter the Australian Supercross Championship at Bathurst on 10 October as the pre-season title favourite after scoring a perfect season last year.
