Yamaha Motor Corporation are celebrating their 60th anniversary with a host of events planned over the next few months. This week, Yamaha Racing are getting into the act with the retro look of their race machines and the touring road show setting up in the Coolum pits.
The 10th and final round of the MX Nationals with the CDR, Serco and GYTR Yamaha’s all turning yellow in honour of the 60th anniversary. The yellow livery as swept through Europe and the USA and it’s now Australia’s turn and there is no better time or occasion than the final round of the MX Nats with a big crowd on hand and a great atmosphere at the venue.
Adding to the atmosphere will be Yamaha’s travelling road show with a cargo load full of Yamaha history. In the display are a range of classic production bikes from Yamaha as well as some legendary race machines that will have travelling down memory lane.
On track, Yamaha riders are well place in all classes. CDR Yamaha’s Kade Mosig leads the Yamaha charge on his YZ450F in second place, DPH Yamaha’s Lawson Bopping sits fifth while CDR Yamaha’s Dan Reardon in sixth.
In the MX2 division, JCR Yamaha’s Jay Wilson carries a 21 point lead over Serco Yamaha’s Luke Clout. Clout’s team mate, Jed Beaton sits in fourth and Yamaha Queensland’s Wade Hunter in sixth.
GYTR Yamaha’s Wilson Todd leads the MXD division by 22 points while Yamaha Junior Racing’s Hunter Lawrence is the man to beat in the MXR class.
The final round of the MX Nationals fires into life this Saturday at the Coolum Pines circuit on the Sunshine Coast with Saturday’s program including practice and qualifying for the three championship classes as well as the young chargers of the MX Rookies.
Sunday will see Australia’s best go bar to bar to determine just who is the 2015 MX National champions. Action gets underway at 8:30am on both days and tickets are available at the gate.
