CDR Yamaha’s Chris Hollis has charged from deep in the pack at the midway point of the 2015 AORC season to finish an astounding third Outright and second in the E2 class after the final weekend of racing concluded at Dungog, NSW, over the weekend.

Battling injuries at the start of the season, Hollis was forced to miss two rounds earlier in the year, but since returning to full fitness, Hollis has been a man on a mission and has stormed home in the points chase to take podium positions both on class and Outright.

Hollis claimed the round win on Saturday at Dungog after another day long duel with Toby Price. The pair have traded round wins at recent rounds of the AORC and often separate themselves from the pack as their speed and fitness is hard to match.

He backed that up with a third on Sunday at the final round and his six round podium streak saw him climb all the way up the leader board to third behind Price and fellow Yamaha rider, Josh Green, in the Outright results while he landed in second place in the E2 class (450cc), just seven points shy of Beau Ralston in a Yamaha 1-2 in this class.

“My form the past few rounds has been pretty good and I felt confident going into the weekend. I didn’t really have a goal for the championship but just focused on trying to win as many rounds as I could and get the best results possible.

“The win was good on Saturday and put me in a good position in the championship. I would love to have won the final round but it wasn’t meant to be.

“To finish where I did was pretty good considering I missed a couple of rounds and I was happy with the way both myself and the CDR Yamaha team finished off the season strongly. We both kept working hard and never slackened off and the results came our way.

“Thank you to Craig, Gary, Mike, Brad and Aiden at CDR Yamaha who work tirelessly and provide us with the best bikes. Also thank you to the team sponsors and the series organizers of the AORC for another great year,” Hollis ends.

The podium results also pleased CDR Yamaha owner, Craig Dack who lauded his riders’ ability to fight all the way to the finish.

“Chris really proved he is a street fighter during the final few rounds and the only guy to really throw out a challenge to Toby Price. With the championship gone after he missed two rounds, a lot of riders would have just mailed it in, but Chris kept working hard, kept taking up the challenge and he was rewarded with some good results late in the season and the championship podiums.

“It’s been a tough year for us with injuries to both Chris and Tom McCormack but it was good that we were able to turn it around and make it a worthwhile result despite the early season pain.”
