Penrite Hattah Desert Race high on the radar for Honda's Boyle.
Penrite Honda Racing press release:
Penrite Honda rider Peter Boyle is hoping to claim the elusive top step of the dais at this weekend’s Penrite Hattah Desert Race in Mildura.
Boyle, who has finished on the podium three times but never on the top step, said he has spent a lot of time testing in Mildura over the past month to give himself the best chance of success this weekend.
“It has been a case of always the bridesmaid, never the bride,” said Boyle. “I have done a lot more to prepare for this years’ event to ensure I am on the podium at the end of the race, and preferably on the top step.
“Hattah is the toughest race of the year. We are racing for four hours in deep sand, on fast straights and through tight sections. It is hard both mentally and physically, its intense.
The Penrite Hattah Desert race runs over two days. On Saturday the riders will embark on a prologue to determine crucial starting positions for Sundays race.
“I will be giving it all I have in the prologue as it is critical,” Boyle continued. “You want to be out in front with a clear track not caught behind slower riders.
Despite a broken toe that was sustained at the last round of the Australian Off Road Championship Boyle is confident he can do well this Sunday.
“My preparation has been good. The team and I spoke and we created a three-month preparation plan for this event. It’s an event that tests both the rider and bike and is an important event for all involved.
“All of the major teams will be there and I hope we get the result we have been working towards.” Boyle added.
Prologue will take place on Saturday, 4 July, with the 2015 Penrite Hattah Desert Race to get underway at 9:00am on Sunday, 5 July.
