Australia's Ferris shines on his way to fifth overall.
Yamaha Factory Racing Yamalube’s Romain Febvre has won round eight of the FIM Motocross World Championship at Villars sous Ecot in France, much to the delight of his home crowd in his first-career MXGP overall.
Febvre won the overall with second in the opening moto and a win in the second, sealing him the round victory ahead of Team HRC’s Evgeny Bobryshev and world champion Antonio Cairoli (Red Bull KTM), who won the opening moto.
It was an incredible event for Australian Dean Ferris (Wilvo Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing) with 4-4 finishes for fifth overall, behind red plate holder Max Nagl (Red Bull IceOne Husqvarna Factory Racing). Nagl’s teammate Todd Waters was 10th with 12-13 results.
Meanwhile in MX2, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings bounced back from his brief dip in results to claim his first double victory since his home grand prix in Valkenswaard a month ago. He won the overall ahead of Honda Gariboldi’s Tim Gajser and Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s world champion Jordi Tixier.
Round winner for the Women’s Motocross World Championship was won by world champion Kiara Fontanesi, leading home Nancy Van De Ven and Australian revelation Madison Brown on the overall podium.
Round five of the European Championship EMX125 was swept clean by KTM Factory Juniors’ Josiah Natzke, the talented Kiwi who was able to claim his first overall win of the season.
