The Swann Insurance Veteran’s 40-Plus Championship was run and won at Murray Bridge on the weekend, with competitors proving that age is no barrier when it comes to racing motorbikes.

With the one-round championship staged on one of the toughest tracks on the MX Nationals calendar, Veterans took full advantage of their experience, handling conditions that tested even the top riders in the country.

For last years Vet’s class championship winner Cameron Taylor (Yamaha), another title win was what he headed to South Australia searching for, and despite former rival Troy Dorron (Suzuki) posing a threat, Taylor got the job done once again in spectacular fashion.

“It’s good to get another win – I still enjoy my racing and it’s always great to come out to a national event and catch up with the whole crew,” he said. “The tracks are getting harder and harder as I’m getting older and to ride on the same tracks as the pros do its hard work, that’s for sure.

“Last race of the day is always tough and the track was really rough and technical, plus the sun was loving the eyes in the last race too. The Vet’s class is still another championship and it’s a national championship, so it’s awesome to get another win under the belt, especially at this age!”

Taylor claimed the overall from Dorron and Mike Reefman, while Daniel Phillips and Carl Woulfe completed the top five overall.
