Old rivalries revived when Vets 40 Plus class hits South Australia.
The Swann Insurance Veterans 40 Plus class is set to make its 2015 racing debut when the MX Nationals kicks off once again at Murray Bridge, South Australia, this weekend.
The Vets 40 Plus championship is set to be run and won on Sunday, 17 May, with a solid line-up racing to be determine this year’s champ.
For reigning champion Cameron Taylor, Sunday provides the perfect opportunity to get back to racing and says he’s looking forward to his first MX Nationals appearance for the year.
“I’m feeling pretty confident heading to Murray Bridge this weekend,” Taylor said. “This will be my first race for 2015, so I’m looking forward to getting back out there.
“At this stage of riding I wouldn’t say that there’s pressure on me having taken the championship last year, but I hear Troy Dorron is racing so it will be nice to renew some old rivalries.
“I know on a local level Vets riding is getting more and more popular and it’s certainly good fun to get back out there at the MX Nationals with some of the guys you used to race against.”
Taylor, who has raced at Murray Bridge a handful of times throughout his career, also shared his excitement in heading back to the venue and says that he’s looking forward to seeing what the track will dish out on Sunday.
“The last time I rode at Murray Bridge was back in 2009 at the nationals and it was my last full year racing professionally,” he said.
“I’ve raced there two or three times and the track has always been great. Depending on how much rain they get, and how much water they put down, it should form up pretty well on Sunday and make for some good racing.
“Murray Bridge ruts up very nicely and gets that sandy loamy surface, which is what I enjoy. Out of all of the National tracks this would definitely be one of my favorites, so I’m looking forward to getting back out there.”
