Clout, Wilson and Crawford take over the MX2 overall podium.
Link International press release:
Pirelli supported athletes Luke Clout (Serco Yamaha), Jay Wilson (JCR Yamaha) and Nathan Crawford (Husqvarna Racing Team) took over the MX2 podium at round two of the MX Nationals at Appin on the weekend.
Racing on Pirelli Scorpion MX 32 Front 80/100-21 and 11085-19 rear, both Clout and Wilson went head to head across two motos, providing fans and spectators with high intensity and thrilling racing, Clout eventually claiming the round two overall on home soil after a countback.
“Round two was one of the best days racing I’ve had in about ten years,” he said. “Going wheel to wheel with Jay in both motos and leaving the field and having our own battles was really cool – I think the crowd definitely got their monies worth at Appin.
“I trust the equipment I use, and its brands like Pirelli that make winning races possible. With Appin being such a tough and technical track, tyre choice was really important – with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 on board, my job was made easy.”
Despite Clout claiming the overall, the spotlight was shared equally with fellow Pirelli rider Wilson. The Yamaha MX2 pilot took race one honours, before finishing just behind Clout in moto two, handing him second overall for the day.
For privateer Crawford, consistency was key in finishing on the MX2 podium. Recording a third and a fourth to collect third overall for the round – completed a perfect Pirelli podium.
In the MX1 class, the Pirelli highlight of the day was provided by Team Motul Suzuki’s Kale Makeham – making his maiden Superpole appearance, Makeham recorded a lap time of 1:51.272, providing the Suzuki rookie with fourth pick of the grid.
Despite Appin proving to be challenging day for Pirelli MX1 athletes, four of the top 10 positions were owned by Pirelli supported riders at the conclusion of the round.
