Husqvarna's Brown takes the fifth

Brown gives the new-look Husqvarna Enduro Racing Team its fifth national title.

HQVA press release:

Husqvarna’s Mike Brown gave the new-look Husqvarna Enduro Racing Team its fifth national title in the short 13 months since its inception, when he wrapped up the InsureMyRide Enduro-X Nationals at Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne.

The American was again unstoppable on the night, winning all three motos to take round honours from Toby Price and Josh Green, and taking the championship overall by 42 points over Green.
The full-time enduro-cross specialist has dominated the championship from start to finish, winning every moto barring one, where he finished a close second.

Throughout the series, the Tennessee native has ridden with an intent and aggression that his opposition has simply not been able to match, yet demonstrated a clinical precision and consistency which is frequently the most difficult part of the enduro-cross equation.

Teammate Lachy Stanford finished his first ever enduro-cross championship in 11th place overall, after showing consistent improvement throughout the series, including a 10th place finish in Melbourne.

Fifteen year-old Brisbane racer Fraser Higlett made it another celebration for Husqvarna when he completed his own three-round domination, in the Enduro-X Nationals Junior class, on a Husqvarna FE 250 lent to him by National Sales Manager Jon Hafey, who recognised the young rider’s talent at the first round of the series in Brisbane.

Husqvarna Enduro Racing Team Manager Glenn Kearney: “The night couldn’t have gone any better really, Mike was pretty much unstoppable. He got three wins and wrapped it up with a race to go. He rode awesome, the bike was flawless, Kristian did a great job there, and Lachy had a solid night too, so I couldn’t be happier. It was a really nice track, probably the pick of the tracks for spectator value.

I’m pretty proud of the team’s achievements in this short time, and obviously this one wouldn’t have happened without us getting Mike here to showcase what the little 350 is capable of. It’s an awesome machine.”

Mike Brown (FE350): “it was good to get the win here for sure, for Husky and everybody else who helps and does everything. It’s even better to win all the races on the night; to win all the motos but one, and get a close second on that one, it’s been awesome. It was super-good here in Melbourne because it was more technical than what we had before. We’ll see how this year goes, and if they will have me back I’ll be glad to be back. It feels like home to me over here, everybody is super-friendly to everybody, and I’ve had a great time the last two years I’ve been here.”

Lachy Stanford (FE350): “I had some fun tonight, I enjoyed it a lot. The heats were okay, and I seemed to get through cleanly. In the top-10 shootout I held the lead for a while and ended up getting fourth-fastest lap time, so my speed was good, and that gave me a little bit of a pump-up for the finals. The first two finals were pretty good, but the last one I went down in the log pit, and once you fell there it was pretty hard to get back up and get going so I lost a fair bit of time there. I’ve learned from this whole championship, and gotten a little bit better every race. I’ll come at it from a different angle next year I think.”

Fraser Higlett (FE250): “I wasn’t really expecting much at the start, but I guess, we came through with the win in Brisbane and it went from there. The FE250 has such smooth power, but then It’s aggressive when you want it to be aggressive. It’s a nice power, and it was good of Jon to give me his bike – it goes so good. I watched the seniors ride as much as I could, and Brownie’s pretty crazy, just a level above everybody! I just watched their line choices and tried to copy what they do, gave it my best shot and it worked.”
