KTM Australia is all revved up for a big showing in Melbourne this weekend when the Moto Expo opens at Ascot Vale on Friday morning.

Hosted by Troy Bayliss Events, Moto Expo showcases the latest products from over 100 (mostly two-wheeled) exhibitors displaying the latest products and services. KTM Australia will be there with bells on, with its newest and most exciting models on display.

In addition to the world-beating enduro, motocross and mini models for which the marque is famous, the KTM stand will feature the latest exciting new additions to both its adventure and street ranges.

Headlining the act will be the brand-new 1290 Super Adventure and 1050 Adventure models, flown straight out from the biggest two-wheel event in the world, the EICMA show in Milan, and set to go on show in Australia for the very first time.

The 1290 Super Adventure is KTM’s new luxury flagship in the travel segment – one which is about to set an all-new benchmark with an equipment specification that leaves other travel enduros playing catch-up.

The 1050 Adventure is a little smaller and lighter, but with standard multi-mode traction control, ABS and the same state-of-the art engine technology that makes all KTMs great, there are few obstacles that would dare stand between it and a great adventure.

Also fresh from the factory is KTM’s brand-new RC 390; the racy, learner legal sports bike with a franchise on fun.

The RC 390 can’t hide its Moto 3 genes, and three versions will be on display, starting with the showroom model, and a ‘blinged-up’ version fitted with an extensive list of KTM Power Parts. An RC 390 race bike from the German ADAC Cup development series will also be there, to whet the appetite of riders who may be considering affordable entry level racing in next year’s ASBK championship class.

The full road range will be there as well, including the beast – the 1290 super Duke R. The Super Duke R last weekend won the Naked Bike class of the Australasian Road Race Championships in the hands of KTM’s Angus Reekie.

It’ll stand proudly alongside our single cylinder Dukes such as the 390 Duke and 690 Duke R.

We’ll also have a KTM shop where you can see (and purchase) the latest KTM Power Wear.

While the static displays will be impressive, static isn’t really what KTM is all about, so you’ll be able to watch stunt man Lukey Luke perform aboard his 690 Duke R stunt bike.

Then there are the racing demonstrations, starting with the Australian Motorcycle Finance Head2Head Enduro-Cross, where some of the biggest names in Australian cross-country racing will meet in frenetic one-on-one combat on a man-made obstacle course.

The Orange men will be out in force, including; multiple Australian Enduro Champion Ben Grabham, AORC U19 Champion Daniel Sanders, guest rider Tye Simmonds, Wayde Carter, rapid moto cinematographer Adam Reimann, Peter Boyle, Tom Mason and Nic Tomlinson.

Next up is the Baylisstic scramble. In what should be some of the hottest lunchtime entertainment going, the Baylisstic Scramble will feature five teams of four riders personally invited by former world Superbike champion and Moto Expo coordinator Troy Bayliss.

The star-studded lineup will then compete on a purpose-built dirt flat track in an event that promises plenty of desperate and daring racing from the likes of KTM-mounted three-time world speedway champion Jason Crump and newly crowned Bathurst Long track Champion, Thomas Duggan.

Fresh from his Enduro-X appearance, KTM’s Grabham will then trade his 350 EXC for a 450 XC-F, and face-off with Lukey Luke and several other industry identities in a special motorcycle industry race.
