WEM on the search for new Australian Motocross title sponsor.
Australian Motocross Championship promoter Williams Event Management (WEM) continues to make progress in establishing a television package for the 2015 MX Nationals, alongside what will be a global live streaming reach next year.
WEM introduced a live streaming package that aired online throughout the 2014 season, refining the program as the season progressed before additionally broadcasting Coolum’s final round on Fox Sports (formerly SPEED) in a delayed telecast.
It’s now hoped that the series will return to television fulltime for the first time since 2011, as WEM works to raise funding for broadcasting on digital free-to-air network TV4ME – airing the final motos live to compliment the live streaming of the opening motos.
“It’s going to cost around $300,000, which is in addition to the live streaming we’ve invested in, so it’s a matter of whether the industry is going to be able to support us to be able to do it or not,” WEM general manager Kevin Williams told MotoOnline.
With former naming-rights sponsor Monster Energy exiting the title position for 2015, WEM is in discussions with potential replacements following a three-year association with the energy drink giant. It’s anticipated Monster will remain as the series’ official energy drink partner.
“WEM is currently meeting with perspective partners to replace Monster as the naming-rights sponsor,” Williams added. “We are also in the process of presenting the TV options to the industry and with the right amount of support we should be able to see Australian motocross on TV again.”
Williams is seeking a three-year sponsorship program when it comes to the television commitment, confident that teams and the sport can benefit from the coverage in terms of sponsorship by 2016 and 2017.
WEM also has plans to provide a package to MAVTV in the United States, which would see the MX Nationals aired on the same network as the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in the US.
