National MX2 champion to partner Reed and Moss in Lativia.
Motorcycling Australia (MA) has officially confirmed that Luke Clout will step into Team Australia for the 2014 Motocross of Nations, to be held at Kegums in Latvia on 27-28 September.
Fresh from winning the Monster Energy MX Nationals MX2 title, Clout will replace Dean Ferris alongside Chad Reed (MXGP) and Matt Moss (Open).
Yamaha have worked together globally with very short notice to confirm the support of a YZ250F and final preparations are now underway for Australia’s charge at the MXoN title.
While the withdrawal of Ferris is unfortunate, Mark Luksich, chairman of MA’s motocross and supercross commission is confident that Clout will rise to the challenge for Team Australia.
“It’s always disappointing to have injuries affect the team but we are fortunate to have a strong group of riders that nominated for this year’s event and having Luke available to join the team to replace Dean is terrific,” he said.
Ferris was initially named Team Australia’s MX2 contender before suffering a broken femur at the Grand Prix of Brazil last Sunday.
