Luke Styke has confirmed he will come back to Australia in 2015 following a single season in the MX2 World Championship this year.

The 22-year-old dominated the MX Nationals MX2 championship in 2013 for Serco Yamaha, before making the move to Europe with Kemea Yamaha this season – a campaign littered with technical problems and injuries.

Styke has featured heavily in the early stages of the Australian silly season, initially linked to a return home with CDR Yamaha before more recent speculation has him lining up alongside Kirk Gibbs in MX1 at the KTM Motocross Racing Team.

“I just want to reset my mind, this year was mentally tough, so I feel like I need to come back, recharge my batteries and get back on my feet,” Styke told MotoOnline.com.au. “I need a good team behind me, have a good relationship and start again.

“Next year will be good, I feel like I will be a title contender, I’ll have a good bike and team so I feel like there won’t be anything stopping me.”

While his maiden season on the world stage in 2014 didn’t go to plan, Styke isn’t ruling out another world championship bid if the opportunity arises in the future – a scenario potentially boosted by an alliance with the KTM factory.

“I’d definitely like to go back again in a few years, give it a good shot with a good team that’s got my back and believes in me,” he added. “Obviously you need a good bike, so I’d go there and ride the bike, meet the team before I commit to anything. It just takes time.”

Styke or KTM are yet to officially comment on any agreement as of last weekend’s Coolum season finale.
