New website live, first event scheduled for this weekend.
Queenslanders Ford Dale and Harley Quinlan have formally launched the Racing 4 Disabled (R4D) Foundation this week, which has been developed to raise funds for the assistance of fallen riders who suffer spinal injuries or disabilities.
The website www.r4d.com.au went live earlier this week following months of organisation by both Dale and Quinlan combined, which explains the concept and its admirable goals to assist in the support of racers.
This Saturday, 21 June, will see R4D’s first fundraising training event for 50cc to 85cc bikes will take place at Coolum Pines Motocross Track on the Sunshine Coast from 9:00am-2:00pm. At a cost of $30 per rider with all proceeds going toward the foundation, riders will be trained by Dale, Quinlan, Kirk Gibbs, Jay Wilson and more.
“We recognised a gap in the industry there, so we thought we’d like to get together in an effort to make a difference,” Dale explained. “We will have a training day this weekend, there are ride days planned and we have further fundraisers planned. On www.r4d.com.au you can get all the information about the charity, get Racing 4 Disabled merchandise and stickers, plus contact us and learn further information about the program.”
2012 MX2 MX Nationals champion Dale is recognised as one of the sport’s current stars as part of the KTM Motocross Racing Team, while Quinlan continues to inspire many with his ongoing recovery from spinal injuries sustained during 2010 while racing for GYTR Yamaha.
