Rounds one and two of the 2014 Australian Supercross Championship (ASX) are anticipated to take place at Bathurst during the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercars weekend on 10-11 October.

With the Australian Grand Prix Corporation this morning confirming it will host rounds three and four of the series, information within the announcement indicated round one will commence on 10 October in New South Wales.

That revelation fits recent speculation that promoter International Entertainment Group (IEG) has been finalising a double-header at Bathurst on the V8SC weekend, just one week before the annual Phillip Island event alongside the MotoGP World Championship.

It is unclear whether the Bathurst event if it is confirmed and goes ahead will be staged at Bathurst Showground or at the famed Mount Panorama street circuit directly alongside the V8SC enduro event.

The Phillip Island announcement also reaffirmed the series will consist of five rounds; the final stop expected to be at a yet to be disclosed venue in Brisbane during November.

It’s the first information provided regarding the ASX series since early December, when a provisional calendar was released featuring Darwin as the opening rounds.

MotoOnline.com.au revealed last week that arrangements with Northern Territory Major Events were yet to be finalised, with the event now certain to be dropped from the calendar after a single season.

That news came following an announcement by Motorcycling Australia that IEG had lost its rights to the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) just one round into the 2014 season following a troublesome five-year tenure.

According to IEG managing director Yarrive Konsky, the company’s split with MA in superbike competition will have no affect on supercross. Former MA CEO David White did not return calls to MotoOnline.com.au prior to being replaced by new CEO Dale Gilson on Monday.

It remains uncertain when IEG and MA will confirm the updated 2014 Australian Supercross Championship calendar – the ASX series website continuing to emit confusion as it displays incorrect dates throughout.
